The main cost factors
- Material used — PLA is the most economical; PETG, ABS, nylon, and resin cost more.
- Part volume — bigger and denser parts use more material.
- Infill density — a part at 15% infill is far cheaper than the same part at 80%.
- Print time — machine time is a real cost; tall or detailed parts take longer.
- Finishing — support removal is standard, but sanding, priming, painting, or vapour smoothing add labour.
